Grain & Gable
Grain & Gable is an architectural response to the expansive, rolling landscapes of the American prairie. Designed as a dialogue between the earth and the sky, the residence utilizes a palette of bleached oak, pale plaster, and floor to ceiling glazing to dissolve the barrier between the interior sanctuary and the golden fields beyond.
While the form pays homage to traditional agrarian structures, the execution is purely minimalist- focusing on “intentional emptiness” and the warmth of natural wood to create a space that feels both expansive and profoundly quiet. Large-scale windows are positioned to capture the shifting light of the ‘Golden Hour,’ turning the surrounding environment into a living, ever-changing piece of art.
